Yup, this is from around 5 years ago. I like it. Discussed here - https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=301276.

She did a whole album of classic country music called Detour. Playlist here, starting with the old Wanda Jackson tune Funnel of Love - link to playlist. I don't hear any steel on Funnel, but there's none on the original either. I think they nail it. We do that one with steel.

I never listened to her music until I saw this on Youtube. It's really good and I loaded it into my mp3 player.

Funny thing,I first learned about her when she was a pro wresting manager in the old WWF.

I forgot she was in WWF! That's a very entertaining tidbit.
I was in a record store here in Portland buying Robert Randolph's first CD several years ago, and she was in the store doing a meet and greet! There was a looong line to see her, but the store was still open for biz as usual.
I was just cruising the CD's and I'm like, there's Cindy Lauper, cool.

I've been a Cindy Lauper fan for a few years. She is a talented singer, songwriter and entertainer.

The main reason I like her is she respects music and musicians. She always uses top musicians to play whatever music genre she is singing and takes time to understand the traditions and history of that music.

I was very surprised at how negative some of the comments were in the five year old thread Dave linked to. I've always thought that musicians could appreciate a performance by another musician as long as that musician is trying to give the music it's proper respect.
