Last I knew .125" 5 or 6-40 |

They are 5-40 threads, but the threads are rolled on not cut. So you can’t cut your own. The rod is too small, but if you use a rod big enough to cut the threads on, the other end is too big.

I just measured mine recently to order some tuning nuts. The 1980 and 1989 were 0.12, the 2003 and 2010 were 0.10. |

It will depend on the era of build. My late 81 had cut 6-32 threads on an alum rod.
