My granddaughter (8) has just enquired
1. Are there multiple tooth fairies, as she doubts one could handle it all?
2. Can boy fairies do the same job?
3. Are there other careers available to fairies, or is it just collecting teeth?

Fairies can be godmothers when they get a bit older.
And they can be boat captains - there's a famous fairy who piloted "Cross The Mersey" on a daily basis.  |

Answer: "The Tooth Fairy takes care of all the children.
For adults, there's an evil man that does root canals."
2. Can boy fairies do the same job?
Answer: "Not as well" (served up with a wink)
3. Are there other careers available to fairies, or is it just collecting teeth?
Answer: "They can make you play like Buddy Emmons in three months. If you start practicing right now."
Edit: "They can make you play like Sarah Jory--if you start practicing right now"

Right you are, Don. All of these years later, "Gerry and the Pacemakers" sounds like some sort of cardiac medical practice.
Sadly, I just noticed that Gerry Marsden, the head Pacemaker, passed away several weeks ago. |
