The lyrics are too political for me.

Sorry to read that Erv. Should I delete the post? I don't want to offend anyone in the forum with one of my posts.

This is a piece of music. Like many other pieces of music that have been posted on this forum, it has a point of view on things happening in the world. We are free to agree or disagree with the writer's/performer's point of view. But I don't see anything in the music or the posting of this particular song that violates the terms of service of this forum.

As long as we can stay sufficiently disciplined not to get into a political brouhaha here, I think posts pointing to music are fair game here. Of course, the music and posts about it must adhere to the forum's terms of service. And I think and expect we should exert the same discipline if someone posts a thread about music with a different point of view. As a moderator, I expect that we, as a group, will exert this type of discipline.

My personal takeaway - I thought that the live clips in the video were the main political element, not the song itself. My main takeaway from the music itself was extreme sadness about what people have gone through in the last year. I think a lot of people can relate to that, regardless of politics.

As far as the rest goes - it's John Fogerty. He's been writing songs like this for over 50 years. He's a great songwriter and singer. I don't always agree with everybody I like to listen to. C'est la vie. And I agree and disagree with lots of people on lots of stuff, including many friends and family. I still try to listen to them even when we don't agree.

Politics shmolitics. If lyrics don’t hit home, why sing them. Good song, well sung, great writer, thanks for posting.

I liked the song and the lyrics that I could understand. It's hard for me to "tune in" on some of John's words. I don't know, maybe my ears are getting a little worse.

It is an interesting time to be alive.
