Well I used to play in some opening bands back then when Vince first started touring; and he always had Rusty Young playing steel with him....but that guy kinda didn't look like Rusty...but played as dynamic that Rusty did; but then all the sudden Rusty would flip his bar in the air and catch it between phrases...ha.....But this was 1990...ish.

Great video!
I played in a band that opened a couple of shows for Vince around this time, where Rusty Young was on steel.
He also had the legendary Willie Weeks on bass, as in this video.
The steeler in this clip (Joe McGuffy?) sounds great, and nicely way up in the mix!

Lee, Willie Weeks on Bass. Thank you for that. He was getting into it almost as much as Vince. Dale

I'm impressed that Vince played with Willie that far back, last time I saw Vince probably 3-4 years ago Willie was playing with him.

well I knew that guy didn't look like Rusty....
I don't even think "look at us" was even out yet in 1990...was when I played shows with Rusty Young on Steel with Vince.
I never heard of Joe McGuffy....he is absolutely awesome in this video....and I've never ever seen Vince respond that way to someone else's playing...WOW...Great job Joe.

Aside from just being a really good performance, I love the video for showing that the song had a life before John Hughey put his stamp on it. It would never be the same after. But it could still be played and played well before the signature licks were created.
I also love that although it's certainly stage presence, part of his being a performer, playing to the back row, still.....how much does Vince love steel guitar? (As he went on to leave no doubt about with his history with John and then Paul.)

The recorded version was a little slower. But, having saying that, I think Vince showed great emotion and conviction in this video. The steel
player had a beautiful tone and good break as well. Vince sure looked like he enjoyed it.
