I played in a classic country band for several years around south Mississippi, and we covered several of his songs, like Kiss an Angel Good Morning, Burgers & Fries, The Crystal Chandelier, You're My Jamaica, Is Anybody Going to San Antone, Mountain of Love, I Know One, Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger, We Could, I Don't Think She's In Love Anymore.

I understand Tom and Rolene Brumley purchased Charley's home in Branson several years ago.

RIP to a true country ground-breaker and legend.

A legend in Country music. My favorite Charley Pride song was a tear jerker entitled, "Where Do I Put Her Memory?" He was a great singer. So many have left us in the past few years. Now all we have is a memory of them. RIP Charley!

I know that we are supposed to keep it about the music here and it wasn't Charley's way to bring attention to himself. But I have to say that no-one did as much to improve race relations as Charley did by making good country music.

Yeah, a real shame. He was a true original, and a groundbreaker. His life was quite a story, from his baseball days, to his Army service, and his career as a singer.
He had his share of obstacles to overcome, and he did so with grace.
I'd like to mention that he treated the guys in his band extremely well... I remember hearing that he gave them all benefits like health insurance. That's rare, and worthy of some serious respect.

Thanks you Charley, for your grace, your class, your service, and your art.
May you rest in peace.

I saw Charley, with Gene O'Neil on steel, back around 1970-71 at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, FL. Great show. The next day he was at a big dept. store in downtown Tampa for a meet & greet. My dad snatched one of these promo pics off of the wall and gave it to me while in line. I also got an autograph on a cassette tape of his Greatest Hits album. Very nice man. I loved his music when my friends were into Credence Clearwater Revival and others of the era.
