So very sad, after the valiant battle he fought. A great guy, a great player. Earnest prayers Donna.

This was news that I wasn't prepared nor wanting to hear. It saddens me deeply. I met Tommy in 1990. I got a call from the leader of the band playing at Miss Kitty's in Marietta. They needed a steel player for a week. After 3 or 4 nights there, word must have gotten to Tommy that a new player was on his turf. He stopped by the club and we ended up talking for hours. Although we mainly saw each other at steel guitar shows, we have remained friends. He was one of those people I wish I could have spent more time getting to know better. Donna, know that our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family in this most difficult time.

I just got back from Florida late last night. Frank Speights called me with this news. It was a real shocker for me. I will miss you my friend...and your playing. The Ga Steel Guitar Asso shows will be a little darker without you there. Donna, prayers for you in this difficult time. RIP my brother.

I first met Tommy at TSGA Jamboree enjoyed his playing and the time we spent talking shop. What he added to the Jamboree can't be replaced. RIP Brother

Donna, we’re so sorry for your loss. We ask Our Lord to comfort you and your family, and to give you strength and hope to bear this trying time. The world is suffering with you, but heaven has just gained an angel of great kindness, warmth, and talent. We envision Tommy sitting at the right hand of God, playing, “Surely the Presence of The Lord”. May God bless you and keep you close… Denny & Peg Beaver

My condolences to Donna and family. Tommy was one of my beloved players . I just admired his playing out of the box style . When I was inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame I chose one of his instrumentals to play.
May your next journey be everything you wished for Tommy

Sorry this has happened. I had the pleasure of hearing Tommy play in Dallas during a rare opportunity that I had to go to a steel show. One tune was “Dance with Me” and I was so moved that I went immediately and purchased the CD from Donna while her poodle watched the transaction....LoL I keep it handy in case I need a lift.

My condolences and I hope things get better soon for Donna and his family.

My heartfelt condolences to Donna and the family. I can only imagine what Donna has been through. I had an uncle who went through a long battle with cancer and he told me that it was tougher on his family than it was on him. I'd never really thought about it from that perspective until he said that.

I thought the world of Tommy, and was always honored and a little nervous every time I played with him. He played challenging songs, always at the highest level, and with more passion and energy than anyone else I've ever seen. We talk about people who live life to the fullest, and Tommy was certainly in that category.

Saw him on you tube a couple of times. Great player, and had a conversation over the phone about a used BMI he had sold. Rest in piece Tommy. Tenn.Lee

Donna, Cindy and I are so sorry to hear of Tommy's passing. He was a fighter but he's with the our Lord and he is all healed now. I guess its been 20 years ago that I met Tommy and I still remember the first time I heard him play and the first thing that came to mind was WOW! He was always willing to help me to improve my playing and I've learned a lot just by watching him at the GSGA shows. He will be missed.
