I received a new 710 from Becky Lawrence for the C6 neck on my Carter Pro.

The Tech just called me to tell me that he's getting 'what sounds like a single coil hum' from the pickup - wired the same way as the George L pickup it replaced.

I have a call into Becky, but wondered if any of you have experienced anything similar? ...how did you solve it?

Thanks,
Mike Lester

No disrespect to anyone but he should check his connections, even replace the input jack, before saying the pickup has a problem.

My opinion.

Yes I agree with Dwight. It is NOT the brand new 710 pickup; it is something else down the line. Been there done that a freakin(well I have recorded on over 100 studio sessions song cuts in many different studios and recording situations...etc

Solved.

It was wired exactly as the George L it replaced. Thanks to Johnie King, we learned that the Lawrence needed the white and black switched on the junction bar. We have no idea why the George L leads were reversed?

Go figure...

BTW... the difference it made in my guitar is extraordinary.
The 710 is crisp, full and has a nice round tone on my C6. I really like it.

Thanks Ricky for your advice. It was perfect.

Ok way cool Michael....and NOT weird that george L is reversed; as I have to remind myself of that all the time when I install a JBL either D or K speaker...they are reversed also...ha....
Oh and like I said: "Now you will never need another pickup in your Steel"..ah...ha....
