Linda Flanagan arrived on the country music scene as a 13-year-old young singer, performing over KFSA in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, doing both radio and television work. She started singing when she was only three years old. A 1956 article gushed over her polished voice and her ability to learn and genial attitude with others.
Her popularity spread around the region and she made appearances on other shows such as the Big Red Jamboree that aired over Channel 8 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The author of the 1956 article wrote that she "...completely stole the show" with her appearance.
Linda also won a local radio station talent contest, that earned her a 21-jewel watch. She was also a featured act for the famed Ark-Okla Rodeo held in Ft. Smith.
She showed some songwriting talent, sharing co-writing credit with KWKH Louisiana Hayride star, Jimmie Helms on a couple of tunes then, "Puppy Love" and "Squeeze Me and Hold Me".

Wow,
I would have thought someone with that much entertainment business background would have had success in Nashville. The recording in the link sounded great and she has a wonderful voice. I wonder what happened?

I don't know what happened.  You would think that both Linda and Jerry Hanlon (who also did a song on that album), with the "boost" of being promoted by someone as influential as Tubb (on one of his more popular albums) would have been more successful. Both good singers, good songs, and good backing musicians. But it seems neither Linda nor Jerry ever charted a record? |

I met her when she and Pete Blue were working at the Western Lounge in Creve Couer,IL. I'm guessing early to mid 70's. I'm pretty sure that they were married, but it's been a while.
Looked at the video and saw a post by Rich Mounce(RIP).

Worked with Linda on the road in the 70's. She and her husband Pete Blue worked with me at a club in Creve Coeur, Il from 1973 u til 1975. Linda was one of my favorite female vocalists. She is no longer in the music business and still resides in Nashville. |
