Hey All,

I just wanted to share this method of split tuning on a Sho~Bud with 2 hole pullers, and a 2 +1 or 2+2 all pull changer that uses nylon tuning nuts.

I stumbled across this very simple method. I am sure it has been used countless times before, but here it is. I hope it is useful to others.

It is a barrel tuner on the raise rod of the B pedal. It is installed at the lever of choice for your F# lower. (In this case RKL).

Tuning Procedure :

1) Tune G# open at headstock

2) Tune A note with nylon hex tuner nut at changer

3) Tune split note G with lever engaged and b pedal pressed at nylon lower hex tuner at changer (I tend to press B pedal first, then engage knee lever)

4) Tune F# lower by reaching under and turning barrel tuner by hand. It helps to press your A pedal to give clearance to easily turn barrel adjuster. Release B pedal and check F# lower with knee lever engage until you achieve proper pitch. Once set, you shouldn't need much adjustment.

There you have it, a 2 rod split tuning method for two hole puller Sho~Buds.

Paul,

No, this is for 2 hole pullers. For your Super Pro, you need to add a raise rod to the bell crank that lowers your F#. This nylon tuning nut will tune your F# lower.

The lower nylon tuning nut will tune the split G note, and tune this before tuning your F# lower, as the changer needs more travel to get the split G note.

You may also may need to adjust the stop on your knee lever to allow for a bit more travel.

Hope this helps, Mike
