I had a Gallien Kruger MB500 power amp lying around and decided to have Tommy Huff build a cabinet which I installed a Eminence EPS15C speaker. I added a TC Electronics Hall of fame Reverb pedal and it sounds great and has tons of power to spare.

| Everybody's gonna say something different. For me, it would be the original 70s Peavey Session 400 or LTD 400 (same amp in different cabinets). I basically view them as a Twin Reverb on steroids. |

Yeah, I am playing through a Peavey Sessions 400 right now. I have had a number of other good amps... but the Sessions 400 just stands the test of time. And what a great value... I see them for sale regularly, in very good shape, for between $300 and $450.

I use a Quilter Steekaire.
There are a lot of amps that sound good. And NOBODY will ever tell you that you have the wrong one,

As Dave said, everybody’s gonna’ say something different. Here’s my something. I remember going to a lot of steel guitar shows, most notably the convention when it was held in St, Louis. You’d look up at the stage with its back line filled with a LOT of NV400’s. There was a reason for that.
Find yourself one, put wheels on it and you’re set for an amp specifically designed for steel guitar with a 15†speaker. Back in the 80’s, 90’s and years following I used one or two (in stereo) for I don’t know how many gigs. Night after night. Hard road work. |

I have a Fender Super Champ XD amp,that i used for lap steel it sound great.Easy to carry,15 watt,2 6v6 tubes, 1 12ax7 preamp tube,10 inch speaker.Lots of different settings of amps,delay etc.Don't think Fender has them anymore. COMMENTS???

Now have a SX 6 string lap in G,.A Tele plus telecaster, Larrivee acoustic.Also have a Fender resonator guitar with new Quarterman cone and spider,and an Allan tailpiece.Playing through a Fender Super Champ XD,using a little delay on the amp and a Harmonix Holy Grail Echo pedal,set on Hall turned to about 1pm.Just got a Fender Dual 6 Stringmaster style. Bought a Yamaha FGX5 Recently and love it. |

I went through this exact same struggle only a week ago, trying to find a good amp for a Mullen G2. I bought a Nashville 400 and a Session 115. The NV400 arrived, and I am completely happy with it. The Session hasn't got here yet, but I have heard them before in person.
The only one I regret wasting my money on was the Session 400 Limited that I already had for a few years. I don't mind having spent money on both the NV400 and Session 115, since everybody will eventually want a backup. Both sound great.
If you have to pick between NV400 and Session 115, the price, weight, and condition of the amps you find for sale will probably help you narrow that down on your own. |
