Well guys & gals , I’ve got another Tommy Huff cabinet. Some of you may remember I field tested the first one of these a while back. It’s 1” deeper than the standard NV400 cabinet, and it’s constructed with 1/2” birch to reduce some of the weight. It also has an aluminum baffle which I believe contributes to the tone.
I’ve installed a new BW 1501-4 Neo speaker. Total weight with this speaker is 52lbs. BW Neo is around 4.5 lbs heavier the the EPS 15C.
I used it on my first job last night , using only a Wampler Faux Analog Delay and the amps Reverb. The amp in this cabinet, still maintained the clarity needed. Nice lush low end , mid range is clear and the highs are crystal clear and not piercing to the ear. The tone in this cabinet is much more superior to the original , it was clean and crystal clear. The only loss of course is the weight. Cabinet alone is 9.5 lbs lighter , and looks amazing. It has a removable grill cloth and also an extra board on the back that is removable , which may add a little on the low end.
Anyone interested in a new cabinet should contact Tommy Huff here on the forum or email Tommy at ctn36689@centurytel.net

Wow! That is really a beauty! I hope you don't hide it at the back of the stage. Sit it right up front. Dare I ask the cost? And, will a similar cab be coming for the NV112?

Jim , I also have a NV 112 with a 15” in it. Same price as the 400 cabs.

NV400 cab prices :
$375 with aluminum baffle
275 with regular wood baffle

This is my 112 with a 15” EPS

Ron, I like that look and, I'd bet the white "chicken foot" knobs would make it look even better. Peavy sells the for less than $10 for 8. I put them on my 112 and it helps me see adjustments.

Wow, beautiful cabs Ronald. Are the two 400 pics both with the metal baffle ?

I saw them empty, at the Dallas show, And was curious about the effect if any on the tone.

Congrats on the new gear, and thanks for posting.

When you’ve had the time to compare the two baffles, I’d be interested in your thoughts.

Thanks!

TOMMY HUFF CAB UPDATE;

I have been using my Tommy Huff NV400 cab now for over a year.

It's holding up very good.

I have had no issues with the tolex coming loose on this cab as I have with other cabs I have built for myself.

All the joints are tight and solid.

I still get compliments on it every time I use it on stage by both musicians as well as others.

Great Job Tommy!

Steve , I’ve been using the burgundy amp for a while now. To me the aluminum baffle contributes to a much cleaner sound , it’s hard to do a side by side comparison with a wood baffle but it sounds great, and it’s much lighter than a stock NV400. I’ve got several good amps but this one is definitely one of my favorites.

I've enjoyed my NV-400 with the Huff Lite cabinet. This one doesn't have the aluminum baffle, but to my ear the amp sounds better than it does in the old, heavy original cabinet. And, along with replacing the BW speaker with an Eminence EPS-15, the weight of the amp went from about 60 lbs to just about 40 lbs. Easy to carry and sounds great!!
