Very sad news... Tony was one of 3 or 4 pedal steel players who lived local to me, who I met when I first started. I recall him turning up at a gig, I’d only been playing steel for a few months and he was a well established player... He must have been cringing at my playing, but he never said a bad word and only encouraged me. For a few years we’d meet at club / festival gigs and talk steel. He was a talented player and loved pedal steel. I’m so glad John tabbed some of Tony’s songs and we can still see him on YouTube. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Tony

Thank you all.
I have sent this link to Sally.
Would have meant a lot to Tony. He was a humble
Man.
I have a track that Tony sent me that he played on
Half of, leaving me to do the second part.
I will do that. Youtube it and offer the tab free
In his honor.

Thanks again for the kind words.

JR.

Hi,
I will miss his excellent advice and his lovely music. I loved his tone and his individual mellow sounding music. He was unique in his excellent style.
I was never fond of screaming guitar sounds and always went for the softer touch and this can be witnessed amongst the six-string jazz players.
Well, those lovely videos he produced will be a constant reminder of this great man and will continue to entertain and inspire new generations of pedal steel guitarists as he was a master of his class. His sound will always be a continual memory.
Every best wish to his family and all his fans too.
