I was wondering if this is the same Eddie Martin that is mentioned in this post about Hank Penny:

I believe that it is.

He also recorded with Ray Price, Deuce Spriggens, Dub Dickerson, Red Murrell, Hi Busse, and likely others.

He was a good western swing player who could sometimes remind you of Joaquin Murphey.

He had about a dozen Hawaiian recordings released in 1946-47. All done in Cincinnati for King/Federal. Some with Jimmy Haulani on vocals.

Moonrise over Pali, Ua Like No Alike, Echoes of Hawaii, Lulu From Honolulu, etc.

Some of the tracks were reissued on the LP shown below around 1960. The LP is split between Martin and Andy Iona.

There's hasn't been a proper reissue of the tracks since, but you can root around and find some of them. I like Moonrise Over Pali and a couple of others.

Jeeze, just when I think I have heard most of the great old bands, something like this turns up! That's a fine performance of Na Lei O Hawaii. Even the counter-melody works.

I have been working on documenting the biographical data for people in my database I use on my website. I did a search on Eddie Martin. Then I googled the name and saw him mentioned for Eddie Martin and his King Serenaders. Another post on the forum mention he was from LA area. I happened across a collection of photo negatives from the LA area clubs. It included a picture of Eddie Martin. I am wondering if this photo is the Eddie Martin that did those King recordings? And does anyone know of his date of birth and/or death? Thanks for any further info. And this forum is a great resource of information in every way shape or form. I am a steel guitar fan and enjoy documenting their efforts.

Eddie plays on these Merle Travis soundies from 1946. I assume that he knew Merle from the days they were both at King Records (which is in Ohio)

I could be wrong but didn't Merle, Eddie Martin and Roy Lantham all come to California together?
