The guitar belonged to Billy Cooper. He preferred the
mini-zips to the round black clips that many of the
guitars had. He gave me x-tra ones, to add or change
pulls.

Pound for pound these EMCI’s are the best deals going. I’ve traveled around the world with mine and it’s been a workhorse. The sustain and balance on mine is every bit as good as my Zum Hybrid and Emmons PP. Swap some George L E-66’s in there or a Wallace TT and you will be locked in the TONEZONE! The zip ties on this are also a huge plus! Big upgrade over the O rings. Best of luck with this sale.

Brett,

Thanx for your helpful hints and positive comments. If I
hadn't run into an as new MSA Legend, this guitar would
have never been on the market. If it doesn't sell, I'll
take your advice and swap out pickups. Thanx again, Brett !

Dan has decided to not sell his SKH.

I'm waffling on selling. EMCI is still available for now.

Thanks for looking, and for your comments.

Hello Scott through the years I have owned three of these...not a bad one amongst them ...the pickups in yours have been trashed by many over time...then again what would Billy Cooper know about tone...and lets not forget Sarah Jory and least of all myself and countless recordings by many other very worthy Steelers that managed to get by with them...I said to you the other day if our currency"s were on par...this would now be winding its way to me...there is not one other Steel for sale anywhere that trumps this one you have sorry man including your new one...best take your time and think this through..most if not all the mistakes are in hindsight 20 /20...this may be another one of mine by not buying it from you...david...best..

Thanks for your offer Johnie, but no.

David, I bought a new one of these in the late 80's
thru Billy Cooper and foolishly sold it when I moved to Fl. I've decided that this one is staying here. Thanks for your comments.

b0b, please close this post, with thanks to all who
looked, offered and or/commented.

Got one myself, looks new as yours, same color, but mine's a keeper.

Your price is just right, I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet, not too many of them around these days.

Ken,

Thank you for your help today and comments about the guitar.

It's amazing that of all the EMCIs that were built and
sold all over the world....that our guitars, on opposite
coasts of Florida, have serial numbers 4 guitars apart.

Thanks again Ken.

Best regards,
Scott

Scott, what do the letters EMCI represent? Emmons, Marrs, Crawford, and (?)

I had to research this to remind myself...

MCI stands for MusiConics International, a guitar company that made a strange guitar called the Guitorgan (guitar/organ synthesizer thingy), and then transformed into a steel guitar company in 1984. The E came when Buddy Emmons got involved, but it didn't stand for Emmons; the owner had to change the name of the company, so Buddy suggested putting an E in front so that it would be pronounced the same, as EM-C-I (em, see, aye).
