Having tuning stability trouble w the Kluson pan tuners on my 56 Deluxe 8. I think I need to take the pan off and oil and tighten the tuners.

What else can I do to improve tuning stability? What's the "proper" way to string a guitar w a Kluson pan?

Thx

I just make a strong bend on the wound strings before i cut the ends, the plain strings i do a little lock bend so the windings capture them. No slipping.

You can see it good here.

Search for my previous post on this... you make a right angle bend before cutting any wound string, as a rule. Wind the string over itself after the bend.

Pull the pans off and clean and inspect the gears. If they are worn out you might have to unsolder them and replace them with these:
