My wife and I watched Runaway Bride last night and in one scene during the luau there is a shot of a person playing an Emmons. I wonder if he was actually a player or just a prop.

Did Dylan ever play this or is it just a prop?

By all accounts, he used it as a music stand for his set list and lyrics.

Bucky Baxter spoke about his meeting Bob Dylan in 1992, "I was playing with Steve Earle. We’d opened up a whole tour for Bob. So I was just playing with G.E. Smith on the sound checks when Bob invited me to sit in. He asked me to get him a steel guitar, so I bought him a steel in Nashville and gave him some lessons."

I don't think there's any evidence that he ever played it in public though, is there?

I saw Dylan at The Electric Factory (philly) in 2009. I can't say with 100% certainty but it sure looked like he played the intro to Rollin' and Tumblin' on that blonde Fender. It was a general admission show and I was standing right on front of him. That was the only time he touched it, and he was out right after the intro.
