I have a strange problem with my pickup. When I turn on my equipment and start playing it sounds like I have the highs and mids turned up all the way. The steel sound is very high and very mid sounding. If I take my tuning tool and touch either one of the blades and let it magnetically grab my tool, the sound is back to sounding full and rich. I don't leave my tool stuck to the pickup and it sounds great.
Has my pickup gone bad. The steel was new in 2019 so it's not old and hasn't been played much.

Thanks for any words of wisdom

Do you have a volt/ohm meter? If you do, set to read resistance. You would want to place the meter probes on the connections for the output jack. Normally, those pickups should read in the range of 15-22,000(22K) ohms. If it reads higher... 50,000 or more, there's a problem with your pickup.

I guess I’ll replace the BL705. The problem persists. Anybody have one to sell?
