Funny, I have a black MCI, but it sounds nothing like that.

| Why did he stop playing Emmons guitars? Was Buddy's playing the MCI associated with a business endorsement of the guitar and does anyone know what if any endorsement relationships he had with other guitars, I know he played a Sierra at one time? |

From the story I heard, the Lashley's sort of screwed him over, so there was some hard feelings.
He didn't have much to do with the Emmons Guitar Co. after the p/p.
He was like a lot of us, always searching for the holy grail.
Towards the end, he was playing a hybrid Zum.

| Buddy was a musician's musician. He could have played a swinette and made it sound fantastic. Lucky for all of us, his main focus was the pedal steel guitar. |

They're quite popular in Minnesota.

Could be, Erv. My grandpa claimed to have once been a heckuva swinette player. He grew up in Morrison County, just north of Lake Wobegon. He gave up the swinette after moving to the Twin Cities. From the way grandpa Lewie explained it to me, I've always been glad I opted to play guitar instead. |

I just looked up swinette and thought I should educate others but out of deference to Buddy I won't.

There are several youtube videos of Buddy Emmons playing MCI guitars. One of my favorites is "Four/Five Times" where he sings. The sound of that Red & Black MCI is just incredible. This one also has Phil Baugh on the Peavey pedal guitar.
Buddy always sounded great of course. |

Pardon my ignorance, but can you really hear or discern the tone or sound of a guitar by watching a YouTube video? There are a lot of instrument and amplifier comparisons on YouTube where people think you can, but in many ways it doesn't make much sense. |

I'm not making any comparisons, but yeah I can discern the incredible tone on this video. I never stated anything about comparing it to anything else.
You can listen to it if you like and come to your own conclusion concerning the sound.
IMO, the tone is great with just a little halo of delay there. That's my opinion of course. YMMV.
