Strymon makes good stuff. I have the FLINT reverb/tremolo pedal and love it.

Neunaber their Wet reverb is the best I have ever used there Immerse has several different reverb types Wet, Plate, Spring, Echo, Shimmer. I think seven different reverbs and all sound great.

i have tried the neunaber wet, the strymon flint, and the wampler faux spring and the fender reverb pedal.

in a nutshell:

i loved the sound of the wet but there seemed to be something weird for me...it seemed to not really reverberate things at a low volume pedal setting. it didn't really come on until halfway through the volume pedal travel. if i set it so that it was audible at low volume, it was way over the top for high volume.

the wampler had too much boing to it that i couldn't dial out.

the fender reverb sounded good, but the pedal sucked the life out of tone.

the flint is great. the biggest problem i have is deciding whether to use the 60s or 70s setting.

Another to consider is the Digitech Polara which is Lexicon reverbs in a stomp box.

Dave, I've had the same experience with the Wet reverb, and moved it to the fx loop which helped, and was also told by Neunaber to try a 12volt power supply to help this problem.

Not a "high end" price, but sounds like it is...
...and I've tried many over the years.

Like Jay, have owned several (read most) brands of reverb pedals and my favorite by far is the Strymon 'Blue Sky'. The only negative that I encountered was that it has a higher power draw than many pedals and functions best when used with its own power supply (provided). When used in conjunction with other pedals and daisy chained using a 'One Spot' or similar units, it may emit a tone resembling a "bicycle bell".

The strymon and eventide pedals you mention offer a lot of options in one - great for experimenting, for recording, or for multiple live sounds. I use a flint, because it's just tweakable enough for me, and I love the trem side and the expression out. Another favorite is the DigiTech RV-7- truly great sounds, a few freaky ones, small and very affordable.

You want pricey? A lush sounding smokey and ethereal reverb in a pedal goes for just under 3 Benjamins.

Made by GFI by some geniuses in Indonesia.

Reminds me of Vangelis' soundtrack from Blade Runner (the original) with young Harrison and Sean Young.

Then there's the Specular Tempus a little north of 3 Benjamins.

There are other GFI reverb and delay type pedals.

More analog sounding. Can't have just one effects pedal. Smile

Wet Reverb for me. I've had every steel amp except the high end boutique ones which I can't afford. The reverb in every one of them fell short compared to my Wet Reverb, and I use very little reverb. To my ears, the Wet does something magical to the overall tone besides just the reverb.

I have an H9 and it’s sound is really fantastic. Plus it can do all sorts of other things. It is basically a powerful engine. The reverbs are top level sounding and as tweakable as you want. It has come in very handy.

Reverbs are getting better all the time. The thing to listen for is how the tail decays. The lesser ones have an artificial sounding cut off point that is audible if you use it recording direct or in an in ears situation. Also some of the emulations that builders use can get annoying once you can hear the extra sounds layered on top of the reverb.

If you can afford it I highly recommend a bricasti M7. They use a proprietary system that transports you physically through space and time into the actual building ,canyon or hall that has the sound you want.

Reverbs and delays. You can't have too many of them.

The M7 has some interesting EMT type plate sounds. And the price is EMT bracket as well.

Acid test though is up against a mix.

Strive for adding to the song's soul rather than feature an effect for the effect's sake.

The one on top gives the one on the bottom a run for it's money. But then again the bottom one isn't a pedal. The Wet Reverb is pretty nice.

Not really a boutique pedal, but the brown Boss FRV-1 pedal does a very good version of the old three-knob all-tube Fender Reverb. If all you're looking for is that classic reverb sound. It suits me just fine. These are no longer in production, but bringing a hefty price on reverb.com and e-bay.

I use a TC Electronics Plethora X5 which does everything- reverb is just one of the pedal types. It includes every TC Electronics toneprint (such as the Hall Of Fame) with lots of parameters you can adjust. Several other types as well. I've yet to work through all of them.

I got mine used for $350. New they are more like $425-$450 as I recall. It does nearly every type of effect except overdrive and distortion.

It's pretty much agreed on that Strymon has the best DSP algorithms in their pedals but you pay for that quality.

I just purchased a Van Amps Sole Mate off of Reverb.com. It's an analog spring reverb unit. It sounds very close to the reverb in the early Fender amps. I have a gig coming up and this weekend and will be able to make a better assessment of it then. So far it sounds very nice.
