| Ron, these were a full range musical instrument speaker and used by many amp manufacturer’s for instrument application. They are regarded up there with the old JBL D-130, EV-15L. They’re response are quite similar but I believe the handling capacity is better with the EV and AL. At the time, Jim Webb offered (3) diff speakers for his amps/ext cabs and AL was one of them. Not sure if a value but looks like a “unique†cab with the port. I’m not sure what amps Jim was pairing this cab up with as I have only seen one other with side port. It looks pretty good size in the pics. Many are moving toward the lighter weight Neo’s to reduce weight. |

Great speakers. More power handling than early JBL’s.
Not light. Had one in a brown Vibrasonic. Great sound. |

I doubt that was used as a steel or a guitar enclosure. Looks more like it would be used for bass or pa.
You can search on ebay under Altec 418-8H Series II for some prices on raw speakers.. |
