Wally, call the hotel. I was told there were no rooms back this summer but in fact there were some. If there is a cancellation it goes to the first on the waiting list.

DoubleTree hotel, right across the intersection, had hotel rooms as of a couple of days ago when I booked. That's supposedly where Sheraton has arranged for its overflow visitors to stay for the convention. It's my understanding that the event has arranged for a shuttle bus between the Sheraton and DoubleTree.
