If you are going to Anaheim, be sure to check out the new Australian-made Jones-Scanlon monitors. This amazing invention represents a new paradigm in monitoring. It is like having Xray ears.

John, $6k may seem a lot but these are not just some nice speakers. These are game changers. You sit down in front of them expecting a pleasant experience but what you get is a “WTF!” moment.

The developer, Steve Scanlon, has been working on his ideas for many years. He is a well credentialled producer and masterer with some US #1s to his credit.

Steve’s iconoclastic product employs a new approach to phase. That’s all I know. The manufacturer, Wayne Jones, has been supplying high quality bass amps for years, with customers such as Victor Wooton and Marcus Miller.

I recently awarded myself a set of these as a reward for completing my PhD dissertation. Sure, they are worth more than the car that I drive, but you have to have your priorities right. Wink

They are obviously great studio monitors but for us home studio types they are out of the question. My JBL LSR308's fill the bill nicely.

You are right of course, Jack. But no doubt the Chinese will thieve the intellectual property at some stage and they might become affordable. Until then, it is the type of technology that might turn up in your local cinema. I know that Universal South Africa have just reequiped an entire complex with these. Also, I believe that Lady Gaga is using some for stage monitors.
Anyway, if you are in Annaheim, check them out.

I totally get it, Guy! I’ve in my fourth decade mixing on a Tannoy (10”) and NS10 combo that I’m so used to I’ll likely never change. I’ve brought in and mixed on a ton of higher end speakers but still never got the results I get from my combo. I think the NS10’s make you work a little harder and I like that. I would truly love to hear these, though!

The Bob Thomas review in Sound-on-Sound magazine is well worth the time to read. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/wayne-jones-audio-jones-scanlon-monitors

Also, here is the Wayne Jones Audio website link: https://www.waynejonesaudio.com/products-specs/studio-monitors/
