Here’s a new lap steel stand I made. I picked up a cymbal stand from GC, everything else from Home Depot. AND I sent a donation to the Forum for all of the great ideas I’ve learned from all of you on the forum, including a search on making a stand. Thanks to bOb and everybody here. If a person wants to learn all about the steel universe, and if you can’t find it on the Steel Guitar Forum, well then probably doesn’t exist.

Did the black flange that is mounted to the board come with the stand or is that something you picked up up at Home Depot?

Thanks so much for posting this with your pictures , really helpful !
I just bought a used Yamaha cymbal Stand at GC and stopped at Lowe's to pick up a floor flange and 6 inch nipple in the plumbing aisle.
I wondered if you hack-sawed the top locking collar off the adjustable center post to stand so the nipple fits over it ?
I don't know if there is a way to remove the locking collar , it looks like an small Allen screw but might not be. |

A 1/2 inch piece of electrical conduit from HD fits in the cymbal stand to slide the nipple over.
The conduit is .71 mm OD and the nipple is .82mm inner diameter so I temporarily used duct tape on the conduit so the conduit doesn't spin in the nipple .
I will have to find something more consistent in size than duct tape to use so the board remains stationary while picking .
The project has turned out really well as a stand.
I used a 5 inch nipple instead of the 6 though |
