I have a question for the group. I've always used passive Ernie Ball volume pedals (I have too many to even count now). I recently bought a Goodrich passive 120 volume pedal and am waiting for it to arrive. What am I going to hear and experience that's different from the EB pedals that I have been using? Thanks friends. |

I doubt if you will hear much difference, that is to say, if the pots have the same rating.

Hello. Actually, the EB's are 250K and the Goodrich is a 500K. |

I have a couple of EB pedals. I have changed the pot in One of them to a Dunlop 500k. As far as tone , I cant tell any difference but the sweep seems to be a bit better with the Dunlop. |

I have an EB pedal, and I used to have a Goodrich 120. There was A LOT of difference between them. The Goodrich had a much brighter tone.
I used the EB on all my recordings, because I felt that the Goodrich was too bright, but I used the Goodrich on gigs because it sounded better when I played live, and the EB wasn't bright enough. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

If you usually play with a brighter tone, you'll probably notice the difference if you use a 250k pot instead of a 500k. But if you play with fuller/rounder tones, you likely won't miss the extra highs that a higher value pot gives you. It's also important to point out that if you're playing straight guitar, their pickups have a far lower impedance than a pedal steel's, so you don't lose near as many highs if you're using a 250k pot. |
