Over the weekend I was in the car and had Channel 60 on. It was a Dwight Yoakam segment and the guests were 2 guys who were from the music industry but not country. I was in and out of the car and thus missed details of who they were. But the discussion was about the rise of Bakersfield, and the early country-rock influences of the Byrds, FBB etc. May have been a repeat, I'm not sure.

So they played some relevant clips - whole songs, and part songs, which illustrated the discussion. I regret not recalling which song but it went through the verse, vocals, guitar etc.

The break came, the pedal steel stepped right up front - and one of the guests let out an involuntary "Oh YEAH!"

I think we can all relate.

The great thing about the '60s and '70s was that you might hear pedal steel pop up anywhere! Witness...this old rock hit: ( steel comes in at 1:58 )
