You are the reason I joined this forum. As a beginner I truly appreciate your tabs. Quite curious as to your process... do you 'sound them out', work from sheet music, or use helper software?

Grateful thanks for your efforts and wish you the very best for the Holiday season.

It's mostly solving a nice puzzle, John!
I grew up with "do re mi fa sol", notated "1 2 3 4 5",
learned myself to play guitar, learned to hear chords under the melody,
and these are my tools now! Wink

This 6 string lapsteel is a fine challenge because of its limitations, I think.
And the C6-tuning has a lot of surprising combinations in thirds and sixths.

So, indeed, it's sorting out the right and most fitting notes to play.
Some combinations are 2 or even 3 times on the neck! Then it's choosing the most flowing way.
At the end, when a song is in my fingers, I start to notate.

Finally, the most important thing is to develop a sort of picture of the neck.
Where are the do's and re's and mi's.
And you'll find lots of good posts on this forum!
They helped me on the way too! Very Happy
Good luck, Bert.
