Anybody know where I can get a tuning key for an Excel D-10? I checked the Excel website with no luck. I'm using a small allen wrench now. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

Sounds like an older Excel. At least you can use an Allen key.
The newer ones have hex nuts, but they are 5mm, not 3/16" so you need to not lose the wrench supplied. A nut driver is too fat. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

I guess I can try to figure out how to mold a handle around the allen wrench. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

It's pretty easy to fabricate a thin walled hex nut type wrench--I've done it several times. Take a piece of thin walled brass tubing of an appropriate diameter, then hammer an allen wrench of the size you need (ball ended wrenches are helpful here) into one end of the tubing. A little heat on the tubing helps, but isn't absolutely necessary. The allen wrench does a nice job of reshaping the tubing into a nice hex wrench.

I've got one that fits an Excel. I'll send it to you free. All I need is an address. Thanks. |

Thanks Billy, That's a nice offer! But I think I have an idea how to fashion a handle for the allen wrench. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

You can make any type handle you want for your allen wrench. I have used File handles, Old screw driver handles and made wood handles, Just use Epoxy to mount the allen wrench in place. Good Luck and Happy Steelin. |

I use the original Allen wrench with a small tab of Velcro...the other half of the Velcro is stuck on the outside of the RKR lever, Never gets lost, never in the way. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10, Excel S10; Peavey 400s (LTD, Vegas, Session, and Renown); Nashville 112; etc... |
