I personally consider tuning splits absolutely essential..

In feel the same way. After playing with them for about 15 years or so, I feel that I can't live without them. I have 3 of them. One on the 4th string, one on the 5,and one on the 8th.

But Patrick is a newbie, and this is not something he need concern himself with. In fact, I'd say that at this stage of learning, they only add to the confusion.

Patrick, my advise is get an Encore, and work with it till you feel you've outgrown it, (which may never happen.) Then you can worry about tuneable splits on your next guitar.

I did a lot of research on the "Forum" and then I got some very good advice that you are getting now from members. I finally settled on a "Mullen SD10" and haven't look back.

However after a few years of playing I am so taken by the PSG... that now I want to buy a few more of the other great ones.
Mullen SD10,Williams SD12 Extended E9, Peavey Nashville 112, Mission Pro V/P, Telonic's F100 Multi-Taper Super Pro V/P, too many other guitars, amps and effects to mention.
