I just bought this head light from Harbor Freight for $14.95. I have macular degeneration and it is not easy to see well without good lighting. I got this to see to solder guitar cables, read small print, work on my car, and work hands free in low light situations. This thing is incredible. 380 lumens of light. Zooms in and out from spotlight to flood light. Several click swivel stops for adjusting the angle. Three light settings, bright, dimmer for battery saving, and strobe. It gets 45 hours out of 3 AAA batteries and I think that is on bright. I had to try it for playing steel in the dark. I just turned the lights out and couldn't believe how great I could see, even better than normal room lighting. There are no shadows and because it follows your nhead movement, it is always shining the brightest exactly where you need it most, but also lights up the whole fret board. The dimmer battery saving setting is perfect.

If you have no pride and don't mind looking pretty ridiculous, this is for you. It would be great for Coal Miners Daughter. It would be wonderful for working on your guitar. I can't say enough about how good this works. So you are going to pass on wearing it for playing. but you should get one of these for other uses.

....and then there's this rig for playing underwater

I actually have one of those George, and although I don't use it for gigs, it's seriously handy.

George I’m right behind you at 71. My wife tells folks that when Danny plays he never looks up from his guitar but he can describe every shapely lady in the crowd. My hearing is bad but I still have decent vision.

Laugh if you want to, but these lights are perfect for hooking your strings on the changer post when restringing your steel. It's a keeper for me. Besides, nobody can see me when I do it!!

Dick, I will be using it for that purpose in about two weeks. I have been holding a flashlight in my mouth!

Just kiddin around. I use one of those head lamps to feed my pets & in the oilfield every morning. Wouldn’t want to do without it. I do like those with easily replaceable AAA batteries rather than button cells.

even better is the magnifier with the light setup. even includes a loupe for further magnification. may not work well for playing but for soldering, etc. it is an absolute necessity.

play music!

Except for the issue of the brackets on these being prone to just fall apart, and I've brought it to the company's attention and all's they did was send me replacements, this light-weight headlamp really lights up the area.

USB rechargeable, no batteries to replace. Has three light brightness modes including a red color for real night use.

Comes in black and it's waterproof in the rain.

And bonus use, you can use this even while it's plugged into the charger.

I just changed strings on my Zum and used this to see to slide the ball ends onto the pins and to see to thread the string ends into the tuning key holes. With macular degeneration this is a gift from heaven. Worked absolutely wonderful.

These do look better. I'm not sure about the magnification feature. Should be great for changing strings. I need them for reading. www.mightysightoffer.com
