...a steel built from titanium would be very expensive. Plus, aluminium is readily available and much easier to machine – probably the only realistic choice when weight, cost and workability are of importance. Perhaps a brass (or all steel) psg might sound a lot better (or not) – but no-one would want to carry it around.
