awhile back, there was a thread about benchtop rod benders to re-rod pedal steels. Does anyone remember that and have a favorite piece of equipment? I am getting ready to re-rod my '68 ZB SD-11

Here's one thread. I like the vice mounted Micromark tool that Donny links to. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=306105&highlight=bending+pull+rods

You can actually make something that will work.

There was a more recent thread but I don't see it right off.

What type of bend are you wanting?
A block of steel with a proper size hole and the proper depth to set L leg length works great. Just insert rod in hole, Then use a hammer to bend a perfect sharp 90+ degree bend. Have made many Emmons E clip rods this way after cutting the clip slot with a lathe bit.

To me, Putting bends in a pull rod is putting an uncontrollable spring in the pull chain, Which could give the pull no dead stop for consistant tuning.
Especially in small diameter rods or aluminum rods.
