Is there any place that I could find the measurements for a Remington 8 string lap or console steel. I've built a couple of 6s but I like the style of the Remington.

I'm not sure of exact dimensions, but you may like this place: how to build lap steels:

And this one, how to build everything else:

It's almost like there's TOO much information... I used to hang out at the informal Warmoth forum, and some of the brand-newbies came up with these AMAZING methods to finish a slab of wood. There are about four or five different ways, and these guys would combine ALL the steps from AAA-ALL the different methods and come up with these 30-step, $150 6-month plans to make SURE it came out perfect. Don't wanna leave anything out.... Rolling Eyes

I used to (subtly?) try to explain that the ABSOLUTELY PERFECT WAY that Fender, Gibson and the like wired up wires, fitted frets, slurped goo onto boards and such were done that way because it was the ABSOLUTELY CHEAPEST WAY that the Masters could figure out how to do to 250 guitars at once within the limits of the primitive manufacturing processes and the goo of 60 years ago. And aren't we lucky that things like glue & varnishes have gotten frankly amazing, if you do remember the "good" ol' days. Possibly, not-so-subtle.
