I'm not sure where I got this photo of a very young David Keli'i with the Hawaii Calls band. It is rare to see traditional Hawaiian musicians playing a Dobro. Barney Issacs played one beautifully in C6th on his CD with George Kuo. Not sure of the year of the photo below.



It looks to me to be a 1930s Model 66. This one below is a 1934 66-B.

This is the only other pre-war photo of a Hawaiian steel guitarist using a dobro, that I have seen. It is a snap shot taken at Lalani Village, a very well presented Hawaiian culture centre that once operated near Waikiki. It was a Mossman family enterprise. The dobroist is probably Thomas Mossman. The dancer is Pi'ilani, and I feel duty-bound to include a better photo of her.
