Thanks Ian! I have two Lashley Legrandes with the same type pickup in both guitars, one has a big bold tone, the other will cut you. And I am trying to figure out what could cause this. The capacitors are the only difference. One has a polyfilm and the other is a ceramic. And the ceramic is the guitar in question. This guitar still sounds great, but it has to be eq'd differently than the other. Thanks for the info and your time.

You can bet that some of the difference is due to different pieces of wood, and different assembly techniques (like screw torque). Ron Lashley even said once that a screw being too tight or in the wrong place can ruin the sound of a guitar. Differences in actual capacitor values (versus what's printed on the cap) can also affect the tone.

Also, unless you bought the guitars new, the pots in them could be different.
