| Thanks Ian! I have two Lashley Legrandes with the same type pickup in both guitars, one has a big bold tone, the other will cut you. And I am trying to figure out what could cause this. The capacitors are the only difference. One has a polyfilm and the other is a ceramic. And the ceramic is the guitar in question. This guitar still sounds great, but it has to be eq'd differently than the other. Thanks for the info and your time. |

You can bet that some of the difference is due to different pieces of wood, and different assembly techniques (like screw torque). Ron Lashley even said once that a screw being too tight or in the wrong place can ruin the sound of a guitar. Differences in actual capacitor values (versus what's printed on the cap) can also affect the tone.
Also, unless you bought the guitars new, the pots in them could be different. |
