I feel like I got a glimpse into what seeing King Benny would have been like. So cool seeing the right hand technique in those raking, rapid fire triplets in the second chorus. Fascinating! I know that tune so well and you took it on in a way I'd bet few would approach. Well done!

Stunning performance Sebastion!!!!

Can you provide the model Tri-cone you are using for the clip? Best sound I have heard from one. I assume you are not using a pick up?

Many thanks and I hope you put up more.

Roy

You make it look easy, and that ain't an easy thing to do. Lovely tone too. Those Nationals can clang in the wrong hands.

Magnificent Sebastion, just magnificent!!!! Super nice to see you present it in the old A Major tuning. Crisp and clear, just excellent. Keep up the good work.

That's my tuning also.
I haven't seen anyone use plastic finger picks for a long time, I started out with them. Very Happy

I normally use plastic picks on my acoustic steels -- Nat'l Style 1, Dobro 60-D, and Maui Maid (Weissenborn) Style 1. You can really dig in with 'em and get more volume out of an acoustic instrument than with metal fingerpicks.

I started out with metal (Dunlop) fingerpicks on pedal steel, and switched to plastic ones on my acoustics at the suggestion of Bob Brozman, after attending one of his seminars in Minnesota in the late '80s.

Thank you so much for all your kind words, that means a lot to me, especially from all this great people here in the forum where I learned so much about steel guitar.

The steel is a Style One National Tricone serial is 2404, that makes it from 1931, as far as I know.
I ordered it from Mandolin Brothers 6 years ago without being able to play it before. Condition was amazing but the sound was not good at all, sounded like a bad banjo. I changed the cones to National ones and it came to life.
My friend Gottfried Gfrerer from Vienna set it up for me this winter and that improved the fine sounding guitar even more, this guy knows resonator guitars inside out.

I recorded it with a Ribbon mic.
After getting all this great respones I will definitely do more videos : )!

Greetings from Berlin

Sebastian

I really enjoyed that! Thanks for posting. My brain doesn't seem to process that style of steel playing for my own music, but I admire folks like you who can play it so well.

I'm a little late to the party but I'll bump this to the top again so others who missed it can see. Outstanding playing and very educational for those of us getting started with Hawaiian tricone playing!
