Haven’t heard enough Buddy Emmons yet but found this on YouTube and thought I’d share it in case someone missed it. What an insanely good solo!

Watch out for the right foot on the C pedal when he goes up high!

Long been one of my favorites - I was just working on some of those licks yesterday.

What an inspiration. Thanks for posting. A lap steel is always by my computer and just had to give this a try. Never mind about the C pedal. Can get pretty close on the old 8 string. Lap steelers and pedal steelers can get a lot from this.

Once again thanks.

You can get close on a C6 lap steel or some E tuning?

Can anyone point me towards some more Buddy Emmons from this period or like this?

While I'm at it, is it more common to use 2 or 3 fingerpicks? I've been using 3 but...well, I guess you can do pretty well with 2! Maybe gives you more blocking opportunities with 2?

I have seen this one a few times. I believe that I am right but that was in the 1960's.

I like the part where ET says "sounds like a Shot Jackson lick"!

You can get close on C6 lap tuning although there will be some slants involved. I use C6 with a high G. And two fingerpicks.

Is just me or does Buddy sound like he's playing a few of Ralph Mooney's characteristic licks along with his own style.

That's a great lick but unfortunately for me (and other Day players) only possible if you have an Emmons setup Sad

Buddy is so natural playing. Very nice.

YouTube is one of the greatest assets of the Internet. Having people publish great clips like this for all to see with a few clicks of a mouse.

This is one of my favorite early Buddy things - I believe it was not done too many years earlier (says 1956) that "Nails", and, to my knowledge was done on an 8-string lap.
