If it were posted in the past, I missed it - so thank you John for finding it!
Outstanding interview, Greg is just one of my favorite music dudes.
Jason Verlinde does a fine job in all his interviews and what a treasure we have in Fretboard Journal. I never miss an issue.
One of the things Greg pointed out is how some fellow musicians, once they know a person plays pedal steel, they would like them to be involved with their band or some other musical endeavor. I don't know if I'll ever graduate beyond hack status on the instrument - too many years of long hours on my job which often included heavy travel and not enough practice time - but it's struck me over the years that a lot of folks like the idea of, and the sound of pedal steel - but they don't want to actually have to make the investment in time and money to learn it for themselves. They'd rather have someone else nearby who can play it.
Greg mentioned in the interview that he got really busy with it once he became a decent player. Of course it's also a little bit like real estate values, depends where you're at: "location, location, location"
I have to go run some errands - need to pop the Big E tribute album into the car CD player. If by some chance anyone reads this thread and still doesn't have the recording - trust me - you need it! Steve Fishell did an incredible job in putting it together. _________________ Mark |
