This may be a long shot but I'm wondering if there are any steel players in the Kamloops area that would rent their pedal steel? I have a gig Sunday, July 14th in Barriere (about 45 minutes North of Kamloops) and don't really want to fly my D 10 guitar. I just need a single neck E9th with 3 pedals (Emmons setup) and could get by with 2 knee levers (raising and lowering the E's). It's a Waylon tribute with lots of Mooney licks! lol Thanks for looking and for your consideration, Dale

If you can't find anyone closer, I'm in Medicine Hat. AB. If I lend you a steel, you are not allowed to wipe any of the riffs off when you're done...

That's very generous of you, Tim, but you are about 930 km away from Barriere. I'm sorry that I don't know of anyone with at steel in Kamloops. I knew there were steels close to Kamloops but have lost touch with them. Best wishes, Dale!

Dale, I believe Don Benoit in Okanagan Falls was keeping track of steel players in BC.
Haven't heard from him in a while, on the Forum or otherwise. I believe he winters in Asia, so ?

I was in Kamloops until two years ago, but the only pedal steeler I knew of passed away.
Let's just keep this near the top and something is bound to come up.

Cheers, CR.

Tim, Thanks for your offer but we're flying into Kamloops. And, I believe you already know the 3 riffs I know. lol

Jim, Thanks for your input. As a side note, my oldest son has been living in North Van and just recently moved to Vancouver.

Chris, I'll see if I can contact Don. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Thanks fellas!

As Chris said, Don Benoit USED to keep track of B.C. steelers but I understand he's dropped his interest in steel guitar "things!" I haven't been in touch with him for awhile but I see he had a posting on the Forum about 1½ years ago. Perhaps you can track him down through the Forum email OR PM, Dale?! Good luck.

Also as a side note, Dale; my son grew up in North Van. but has lived in Vancouver (my home town) for about ten years now! Coincidence! I briefly met you in St. Louis in 2001 through my connection with Al Brisco when you were there with the Canadian Connection.

Thanks Jim, I will definitely send Don a message and hopefully get a response. That's cool, about our sons! And, it's too bad the St Louis convention isn't happening anymore. I would love to get to Dallas sometime. Thanks again for the leads, I do appreciate it.

Jeff is in Leslieville, AB which is about 730 km. East of Barriere. However, he may know of someone in the Kamloops area with a steel, who knows. I wrote to Jeff a few weeks ago & haven't had a reply - perhaps he's on the road?
