To make headphone practice more pleasant I use this affordable speaker simulator/parametric EQ direct-box.

My â€œMoen Buffalo Parametric EQ and DI Boxâ€ cuts mids & highs like a steel amp to remove harshness.

You have to set volume levels at 1/3 to prevent clipping.

Itâ€™s okay for band practice when you donâ€™t want to lug an amp, but for serious performing/recording Iâ€™d buy something more upscale: this oneâ€™s for home.

I've used it 2 years so far with no issues: it's hefty & well-built.
