In order for there to be an issue with using "MCI", I believe the protest would have had to have been from a business involved with music or instruments. As far as I know, a company can only have exclusive rights on a name for a particular business or product type.
For example, there are many different businesses out there named "AAA", "CBS", or "MSA", but they are all involved in products or services of different types. I remember back in the '70s that Reece had a big picture in his office at MSA of a jet with the letters "MSA" on it, and I commented that I knew pretty well that MSA Pedal Steels did not have their own corporate jet. I asked him if the plane in the picture was the property of the "Mining Safety Association". He laughed and said "No, that plane actually belongs to "Malaysia-Singapore Airlines". |
