I KEEP GETTING AN OVERDRIVEN KIND OF SOUND FROM MY LTD.BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE IT IS SORT OF LIKE A SLIGHTLY OVERDRIVEN TUBE AMP.I SENT IT BACK TO PEAVEY FOR A TUNEUP BUT THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS CLEAN THE POTS AND PUT A NEW POWER CORD ON.ANY SUGGESTIONS? I DONT WANT TO GIVE UP ON THIS OLD AMP.I LOVE THIS THING.BTW IT'S NOT THE SPEAKER.I ALREADY TRIED THE SIMPLE STUFF.THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE.DAVE |

I had a similar issue several decades ago with my '77 LTD 400. The problem was where the speaker connection leads connect to the JBL. The little spring-loaded doohickeys on the speaker were not making good contact with the wires. An easy fix. |

Are you using a powered volume pedal? What volume settings are you using on the amp for the pre and master gain? |

Hey Donny;I've got a Goodrich 120 passive pedal.I've moved the pre and post gains around to trouble shoot it.I normally run the pre at 4 and post at 5 but last night I backed the pre off to 3 and pushed the post up to 7 just to make sure it wasn't overdriving.I'm gonna drag my Session 400 out today and hook it up just to compare the two.I also think I'll eliminate the VP and change cords just to try and isolate whats going on. |
