I remember Wally Murphy playing the Williamtell overture as fast as lightning on a Deckley At the St. Louis steel guitar convention.
Let’s see them I just got my first one and I’m really impressed how well she plays an sounds

In my search for the best pedal an knee leaver action through the years I’ve had a lot of steels this seems too be the best one yet. If you could see her undercarriage you could see how well she’s engineered. I guess she’s overbuilt but it’s worth it.

I had this one, but didn’t keep it...the pedal and knee action was very smooth and positive. HEAVY, but very nice sustain and a pleasant tone.

I played a D10 8x4 705 pups for 16 years when I was a young strong man. They are heavy and play well with good tone.

I've posted this before. It's in the midst of some changes. I redid the setup and will replace those pretty pickups with LXR-16s. So I took the "Custom Built for Bill Stroud" placard off because it's no longer the way it was.

Love the sound but I think the new pickups will even improve it. I'm just now beginning to get used to it being a D-12.
I set up the E9 neck like Rick Schmidt's D-12

My D10 Dekley
I'm the original owner, and I still can't find a reason to get a different steel. Used on gigs, studio, it just sounds right.

Pete: Did yours come with 9 pedals or did you add that. Don't know why I sold my first one except I wanted back to that Sho-Bud sound. Now I won't let go of either of these. BTW I lived in Belmont at 1900 Alden St. on the corner at the bottom of a steep hill until I was 10 yrs old. Smile

Paul Wade - I'm sure you cherried out the Dekley you got from me.
That was my first pedal steel that I put a fretboard on. It also convinced me that for the fretboard steel to really work, it needed to have a second compensated bridge for it to fret in tune.
I'd love to see a pic of it now
I spent some time with Gene Fields in Arlington, TX, and played the MCI he put a fretboard on. A great idea, but lacking in the tuning department.
I'm sure the main inspiration for Gene was watching/hearing the great Thumbs Carlilile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqX49IJj0vA&list=RDEMePbDJ-8BseUFiXqPJRIXnA&start_radio=1
I was lucky to meet Ned Steinberger at a club Nashville and he designed the second compensated bridge for my Sierra.\

And yes, a Dekley is a great guitar to familiarize yourself with pedal steel mechanics and to work on.

Blonde with brown Paka wood necks. I think the C neck fretboard needed to be replaced.
