Shows, I think, that to be a great steel player you need that sense of vocal line in your soul - whether you can realise it with your actual voice is another matter - amazing! Jim, you've even adjusted the speed of your Morris Traveler GIF to match..... _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Ian,
I totally agree...I also hear a musician in the 60's who was listening deeply to the pop music of his day, Ray Charles, The Beatles, Sinatra, Jazz Swing, etc...
Thanks Jim....What a treasure this is to hear!

Jimmy was a great blues singer for as long as I'd known him. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

yikes.. I had no idea Jimmy Day could sing like that... what a powerful vocal vibrato he had at his command to go along with that soulful style.. very nice..
This thread reminds me of the first time I heard Rusty Young sing as well..In his case, he had that same beautifully sweet country rock voice that everyone else in POCO had, but no one ever knew because he was always the "pedal steel player".. Steel players are like any other good musicians.. Many are multi faceted, and can be great singers/writers, and a LOT play several other instruments as well as they play steel... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!
