I recently acquired a Webb amp with a Sica speaker in it and I can't tame the highs. Way to shrill for me. I know I have all the makings of highs using a 710 pickup, George L cables and a Telonics pedal but I can cut them with my Peavey Session 115 and my Telonics Amp. So, can any you Webb owners offer help? |

Webb's are made for JBL K130's or E130's. I've tried others but always come back to one of these two. |

Just went through the same thing with an Evans pre-amp. Solved the problem with a Sarno Back Box using the
Variable Z control. Brad also makes a clip on the leg
tone control called the Freeloader, which is an integral part of the Black Box. You just wouldn't get the advantage of a tube buffer without the Black Box. You can also make up a special "Webb only" cord with a 500 K resistor soldered into it to reduce the highs.
I was running a TT-12 speaker, but just got a pair of GD Walker cabinets with 15" JBL-D130's. Definite!y not as bright as the TT, but it's not a fair comparison since the TT is 12" in an open back cabinet and the JBL's are 15" in a closed back cabinet. |

You can also try a beam blocker to cover the center of the speaker.
They make them out of steel but a DIY circle of foam can also help and some like the foam idea better than the steel units.
Experiment with thicknesses and densities.
Try the doughnut without the doughnut hole. _________________ ShoBud The Pro 1

Interesting that you get too many highs with the Sica speaker. I had one that I sold for the opposite reason. In all fairness, I might not have given it enough break in time. Your Webb should have a five band Equalizer section. Some players don't use it, but I find it helpful in tweaking for different rooms. Try experimenting with it. Start by turning down the highs using the knob farthest to the right. It took me a while to get used the the EQ section in mine, but like I said, it can come in handy. |

If you have the 250 watt Sica it's like a 1501-4 BW.....the 300 watt Sica is like a 1502-4 BW..that might be what you need to cut the highs. |

I have found that the selector switch in the middle position and using the EQ section as well, helps the situation. I think if I had a Sho Bud guitar, it would be an awesome combination. But both of my Show Pros have a 710 pup and they are naturally bright. A Izzy might help but I will never use the Webb anywhere except at home. Too heavy even with the lite speaker. |

Dale, you need to borrow my "Freeloader" I believe that would help. |
