How is the proper/ best way to run a Pod ...power amp in on the back, or pre eq in on front, or tell me a tried and true hookup. pwr in on back I think shuts down all front panel control, and lets the pod do all the preamp/effex.
Thanks..Bill _________________ Bill Ford S12 CLR, S12 Lamar keyless, Misc amps&toys Sharp Covers

I used a POD XT and now use a POD X3 which is just an improved version of the XT. I use it mostly for effects only, no amp modeling - e.g. my main "Tone" (what Line 6 calls a program) is digital delay and spring reverb.
I run the POD between the volume pedal and the regular amp input. I've done that with several Peavey amps, then bass amp heads and now with a Steelaire amp.
I have a couple of other "tones" such as chorus, leslie simulator and phaser and they are effect only too.
If you want any of them e-mail me and I'll send them to you. You have to download the free "Monkey" (control and update program) and the "Gear Box" program which lets you program the unit from a PC or load Tones, such as mine. _________________ GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat, SIT Strings

Thanks Jack, I have your tones on my pod, I was just trying to remember how I did it before, maybe turned everything to zero and run it in the instrument in on the front. The sound guy and I are trying something different, so far I like the setup but the tone of the 400 is not what I'm used to.

If you run it before a passive volume pedal, the pedal won't react in the same way. Also, you'll lose the tail of the reverb/echo between notes.
I don't use a Peavey amp but, like Jack Stoner, I always run the Pod XT between the volume pedal and the amp. Unlike Jack, I do include amp modeling on some of my patches to get specific tones. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

B0B, I think that's how I did it, gonna try that way, if it don't sound ok, I'll try something else, let you know how it works. _________________ Bill Ford S12 CLR, S12 Lamar keyless, Misc amps&toys Sharp Covers

Put it between VP & amp, sounds much better, think I'm gonna go with that setup. Sounds much fuller tone, even the bass man likes it.

Bill, I run mine that way and it works best. Also I do use modeling so it goes into the power amp in for me. You have to try different settings and maybe kill the speaker cabinet models depending on how it sounds. Takes a bit of experiments to find the best tone. David Spires uses one and I copied his rather complex settings with good results. It's posted somewhere in the forum. Good luck. |
