Hi - I just picked this one up. there are no markings on the steel, no serial number. I does have 2 letters (GS) next to the volume control. The case has Mueller Music School Bensenville Illinois on the front.
Can you help me and tell me exactly what I bought?

| Don't recognize the pickup, but that is the same fretboard National used on their late 30s/early 40's New Yorkers. National was in Chicago at the time, Bensenville is close to Chicago. I am guessing the initials were put on by the owner. |

It's a Regal steel; this one has a different control layout but is otherwise similar. No telling how it acquired a National fretboard.

The Jackson Guldan Company in Ohio used a similar pickup on some of their Epitome lap steels. This one has a prewar Gibson bridge:
