I know what you mean, Jesse. I reached a dead end personally and gave up chasing that sound on steel. If I want to play fast single line jazz, I pick up my standard guitar.
But ... these guys get in the ballpark pretty well ....

Not bebop but pretty great straight swing jazz steel IMHO:
