I have just too many steel guitars for the space available in my house. Even having two of them set up takes so much of the available space.

My dragon steel has been in the case for months now and deserves a much better life.
It was built by Mark Giles and Star Guitars in Texas and finished in 2006.
I sent Mark the Claro Black Walnut and he built the cabinet and neck with that and maple under. Then sent them to me to do the inlay work.
After that I sent it back to him and he did all the finishing work. Plays real nice, Great tone and has some extra pull rods and bell cranks.

The steel is a SD-10 with 4&5. The photos were from when it was new. I will take more photos of it soon and post them too.
It shows some signs of being played and gigged with for the last few years.
The usual bar dings and slight scratches here and there.
Has a nice strong road case in good condition.

I'm asking $2,300.00 Firm plus shipping. I will be back in Oregon the 7th of June for 8 weeks and could ship it CONUS then. Another possibility is I plan to be at the Dallas Steel Jamboree in March 2020 and could bring it there if a buyer would want to meet there?

More photos from 2006;
Have replaced the pad with real leather now. Soft with nice feel.

These photos were all from the last couple of years.
You can see the road case and the way I got it to gigs here in Saigon where the traffic is nutz and many streets are so narrow that a car will just not fit.

The newer soft real leather arm rest feels so nice and comfortable.

You can see from these that it's still in decent condition. Most of these photos from clubs in Saigon were from other people posting on face book where I don't often go.
I'll still get some better photos taken soon to post, Underside and all.

Thanks Jim,
BTW, I ordered one of Todd's new Fry Pans based on your evaluation of the one (#2) you got. As usual he did a wonderful job on them so really looking forward to getting my fat fumbling fingers on mine when it's ready. Laughing Very Happy
He told me the string spacing is the same as the aluminum one I got from him in July 2017, and that is just the most perfect steel I've ever played.
Best wishes,
Andy

Yes I like it too, but no room to set it up so it just stays in ther case now.
That's why I was thinking I should let it go to a good home where it will get the playing time it deserves. Very Happy
It was my main steel for 11 years until I got the new Mullen SD-10 with 5&5.

Hi Steven,
I'm getting too old and too far away to take on work like that now.
Also that kind of inlay work is best done during construction.
I'm semi-retired now and just working on my own projects for fun. Very Happy
If you really want something like that look up a luthier in your area.
Best wishes,
Andy

I forgot to add the copedent so that is here now. Also should let you know it's very easy to change and
the steel has some extra bell cranks and pull rods.
It is triple raise and lower with the 11th non-string 1/2 stop Wink

I'll be going to the Dallas Jamboree in March if anyone is wanting to buy this?
Will not pay the extra luggage cost unless there is a sure buyer. Very Happy

Had a few pm's on this... If anyone is interested and really serious I'll be coming back to the USA June 7th and could bring it along.
Because of the road case adds to the weight it is not cheap to travel with so only if there is a buyer.
Will not return to the US after this trip until the Dallas Steel Jamboree next March.

Hi Steve,
I must have missed you message, sorry.
I'm not really set up to do work when I in the US and it would be too expensive to ship to Saigon round trip.
You may want to check with Mark Giles in Texas. He's on the forum and does great inlay and finish work. Does all the new MSA's and they are stunning. I don't know if he'd be willing to do a used steel because he usually just does work on new ones.
There may be some others who can do a decent job?
Your best bet would be to find a luthier in your area who could do the work locally.
Usually an inlay requires some refinishing work too.
Best wishes,
Andy

Hey Andy,

I love those pics of you in the Saigon bars and the Dragon is certainly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

I've been out of touch with you for a bit. When did you leave Eugene for Harrisburg? I'm still playin and lovin the e-harp every day.

Folks,

You won't find a more straight-shootin' guy on this forum.
Buy with absolute confidence.

Thanks Mark,
Yes I'd like to see it go to a good home and get more use, but not at a best offer.
I've had a couple of PM's making offers, but I really think it's well worth the asking price or I just keep it and have a spare SD-10.
If fact, just put my newer 2017 Mullen G2 SD-10 with 5&5 away and thought I'd bring the Dragon out to play... Like Magic Puff and Jackie Paper. Laughing
If I keep it I will try putting a variation of b0b's 10 string semi universal on it.
Then if I like that I could do it to the Mullen also with the 5th pedal to complete the tuning.
Best wishes,
Andy Very Happy

I like it too but have to go easy... Not too fast and slow on corners and rough pot holed roads. When the steel is not on the dolly it sways and bounces a lot, Too much. Embarassed Laughing Gotta be careful.
The cops here don't care because people here in asia carry all kinds of things on the back seats or some kind of trailer. Whoa! Shocked

Like I said my ally is way too narrow for a car!
