I know this is a question with many possible answers but, how much more does an SD weigh? A ballpark answer on a percentage basis would help. Thanks.

The difference between a Williams SD-10 and an S-10 wide body is 5 lbs., so I can't imagine a narrow body losing more than another lb. A D-10 weigh's about 10 lbs more than an SD-10. Lots of variables like you indicated. Hopefully others will chime in. Nice playing at the steel guitar jam last Wednesday.

Here's another comparison. My Zum SD-10 is about 53 or 54 pounds in the case. I have a GFI S-10 that is 44 in a very similar kind of case.

Thanks for the replies. At 73 I think carrying my P/P D 10 is getting to be too much exercise. I think an S 10 is the way to go. I've talked to Jerry Fessenden and if my doctor can fix my hand I will get a Fessy.

Jerry is a great guy and builds a nice guitar, he is also a friend of my daughter and son in law and mine as well. His instruments play easy and sound great. Good luck.

Ben,
Do what I do. Buy a gun bag case and then put your legs, rods and pedal rack in there. It has made such a difference for me.

Plus, it probably looks really cool when you show up to the gig with a gun case.
I'm going to have to think about doing that.

Ron I did get split cases from Kevin a few years ago and it did help. I bought a 1-12 amp but the guys in the band liked my Nashville 400 better so I have heavy stuff to carry. It was a lot lighter a few years ago.

John I have to use hard cases or people might suspect that I have too many weapons on stage. You know how it is......

I know where you are coming from. I turned 75 last month.
I wanted to go lighter too.
I bought and EMIENCE EPS-15C speaker.
Built a Birch plywood case for the EPS-15C.
Speaker, Case and Cover weighs,------------ 22 lb.
Bought a EVENS AH 200 amp. With padded bag.. 7 lb.
My GFI S 12U -------------------------------49 lb.
Now to cut the weight of my &T^$$#%^@& Pac Seat.

I played my steel through my small amp. yesterday at a jam. I was surprised at the loss of sound with the smaller speaker after playing through the EPS-15C.
Good Luck lightening the load, Happy Steelin.
